Pollen Allergy

Pollen is a part of trees, plants, grasses, and weeds which is a very fine powder that fertilizes other plants of the same species.

Your allergy depends on, where you stay, which can cause you to experience allergies in more than one season.

Your allergy may also react to Indoor allergies for many reasons such as:

  • Mould

hay fever is also known as “pollen allergy” or allergic rhinitis. It is the most common allergen that most people have, mostly in the spring season.

Many people have an adverse immune system when they breathe in pollen.

Our immune system is designed in such a way that whenever viruses and bacteria enter our body they soon start to attack them.

The specific type of pollen that causes it is known as an allergy. the reaction leads to numerous irritating symptoms, such as:

  • Sneezing (may be continuous sneezing)
  • Runny nose, or itchy
  • Watery eyes
  • Nasal congestion
  • Cough

Pollen can travel by air from one place to another place very far. this means tiny pollen can give birth to its other plants and it may be in your surroundings.

Some people have allergies but only when a particular season comes.

Some people have pollen allergies year-round while others only have them during certain times of the year.

Similarly, those with ragweed allergies (the main causes of weed allergies) are most affected during the late spring and early fall.

About 20 to 30% of the total population of India suffers from at least one allergic reaction. out of this, about 15% develop asthma.

Pollen Season

There are no particular places and particular seasons of pollen allergy, But it occurs more in the spring season.

Because, at this time pollen comes out of the plant in large quantities, which moves with the wind from one place to another.

In India, two major pollen seasons-February to April and August to October-are recognized for Delhi state.

The season can also be responsible for pollen allergies but most of the time I manage these symptoms at home using home remedies or talking to the doctor.

If the symptoms are more, it has never happened to date.

Why am I Allergic to Pollen?

The immune system of many people (like u) is quite hostile and our immune system mistakenly sees harmless pollen as a dangerous intruder when we breathe in pollen.

Due to this, our immune system starts producing chemicals to fight pollen.

The same chemical when viruses and bad bacteria attack our immune system causes us to experience symptoms which is why you are allergic to pollen, Dust, mould, etc.

Treatment of pollen allergy

As another allergy, the best way to treat is to avoid it.

However, in the case of pollen allergies, it is difficult to avoid. In this situation, you can use the measures given below.

Allergy Shots

Allergy shots immunotherapy involves a series of injections of allergens.

It may be recommended if medications aren’t enough to ease symptoms.

It helps to reduce the severity of your allergic reactions. you may experience complete relief within 1 to 2 years after starting allergy shots.

Medicines

The nasal spray is the doctor’s first choice to treat allergic rhinitis. They relieve congestion, a runny or itchy nose, sneezing, and other symptoms.

When avoiding is not possible, then medicine is a good choice, but make sure not to consume it daily basics.

Naturally, strengthen your immunity as much as possible.

  • Brompheniramine – Dimetane
  • Fexofenadine (Allegra)
  • Chorpheniramine – Chlor-Trimeton

OTC antihistamines for allergies

  • Loratadine – (Claritin, Alavert)
  • Cetirizine – (Zyrtec)
  • Levocetirizine (Xyzal)

Anytime you take medicines, take them only on the advice of a doctor and increase your immunity with more natural things like Turmeric, basil, etc

Home treatment is best. if you have mild symptoms.

  • Air Filter: By trapping airborne such as pollen, dust particles, and pet dander, can reduce allergens in your home.
