1. Who is Legend (major Dhyan Chand)?

Major Dhyan Chand is very prominent and popular who was known as the wizard of Indian hockey he was born on 29 august 1905 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. 
 
He is also considered a devilment (prodigy) in the field of hockey. he scored over 400 goals in his career, from 1926 to 1948, and 1000 goals in his 22-year career. 
 
Major Dhyan Chand Ji is considered the greatest hockey player of India under the Indian leadership of Dhyan Chand, the Indian hockey team has achieved several medals. he has led India into 3 (three) Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936.

During the 1936 Berlin Olympics the outside of world war, 2, or Adolf Hitler was very happy and impressed with his playing and he becomes a three-time Olympic gold medalist, because of which Adolf Hitler wanted to buy his hockey stick.

3. Why we Celebrate NSD (National Sports Day)?

We Indians celebrate sports day because major Dhyan Chand Ji won the gold medal for India on the grade of a hockey game, in 1928, 1932, and 1936. 
 
And on 29 august 1905 major Dhyan Chand Ji was born and on his birthday this day declared as sports day to pay tribute to him. (after his death in 1979, the Indian postal department issued stamps in his honor. 
 
As a great tribute to him, the national stadium of Delhi was also renamed to major Dhyan Chand stadium) which we know and celebrate today as the national sports day of India.

4. Fit India Movement

In 2019, the prime minister of India Narendra Modi launched the Fit India campaign, the purpose of the champion campaign is to encourage people to develop physical activities and sports in their everyday lives. 
 
Under Fit India, government officials, fitness promoters, and a committee of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) was formed to provide advice, opinion to the government on the Fit India movement.

The first national sports day in India was organized by the prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi on 29 august 2015. hence it is celebrated on 29 August every year.
Rashtriya Bhawan organizes a special award ceremony for Indian sportspersons. 
 
These awards include the famous sports-related award:
