Headache is one of the common illnesses in most people, that goes by its own sometimes, and sometimes it settles after taking medicine.

So this topic will tell you possible things about headaches.

What Exactly Headache Is?

Headache is a very common condition that many people across the world experience at some point in their life.

Some may get migraine headaches, some feel very angry, and frustrated when the headache comes.

Sometimes it goes on its own, but sometimes it can be found to be seen continuously and for a long time which is not normal thing.

The age-standardized 1-year prevalence of migraine was 25.2 % prevalence was higher among females than males and among those from rural areas than urban.

Headache does happen for many reasons, here are the most common reasons which include:

  • Stress, Tension
  • During the Pre-menstrual cycle also happen
  • Lack of sleep
  • Stomach gas, when you do not release the gas, so this goes upwards to the brain, lead head pain
  • Skipping eat food for long-time, which also lead to Weakness
  • Anger
  • Drinking Excessive alcohol and smoking
  • Hunger, lead to anger
  • If Caffeine, and tea consumption is high
  • Cold, flu also lead headache

Some medical conditions can also lead to head pain

  • High blood pressure
  • Tumor, Bleeding, and any infection in the brain
  • Inflammation in veins
  • Temporal arteries

What happens In Our Brain While on the Headache?

Understand it like this – When you are hurried or working too much, these electrical moves did not even give the brain a chance to rest.

This causes muscles, and blood vessels to swell, and the nerves send a rush of pain messages to the brain, which brings a headache.

During a headache, the flow of blood going to the brain gets changed, muscles start to concentrate and swell, the brain doesn’t work properly.

Types of Headache

There are many types of headaches, it is not possible to tell about all of them, but here are 4 main types which are seen a lot.

Sinus

The sinus is an air-filled space in our skull that plays a major role to produce mucus.

If there is any inflammation and any infection they may lead to sinus headaches.

Location: Forehead, cheekbones, and between eyes.

Sinus headache most commonly happens on the forehead and in the face. Here are symptoms of a sinus headache include:

  • Face swelling
  • bad taste in the mouth
  • fever
  • frequent pain in cheekbones and forehead

Migraine

There is a lot of pain in the head with migraines.

It starts on one side of the head and may spread to both sides of the head, and this is related to vision, sound, and light.

Location: Start with the forehead, and goes the side of the head.

People suffering from regular migraines know that they are going to have a headache before the pain occurs.

Here is some reason that triggers migraine headache which includes:

  • Caffeine, MsG
  • Hard alcohol consumption
  • Lack of sleep
  • Any type of stress
  • Excessive medicine use, may also lead to migraine.

Tension

This is one of the common headaches, It gradually increases, and the person may feel this:

  • It may feel like tying a tight band on the head
  • Pain may spread to the Neck
  • Pain can increase mild to moderate
  • May increase during daily activity

Location: All around the head, you may feel on the forehead, back of the head, and sides of the head.

Medicine: Paracetamol is commonly available in the Indian market and gives quick relief.

Cluster

There is a lot of pain in the head even in cluster headaches and it lasts for about 1 hour, and this can be for several days in a month.

It happens at the same time every day, The headaches may disappear completely for months or years, but can also come back.

Location:  Around one eye on one side of your head.

Treatments of Headache

Sometimes the headache goes away by taking a nap, and if a nap doesn’t work, then there are many medicines out there, that you should take on the doctor’s advice.

In such a situation, keeping an Ice pack in the head can reduce pain to a ​great extent.

Drink enough water: Drinking water brings lower blood pressure, relaxes muscles, and cools your internal body parts.

Rest in a quiet, dark place: If you are facing a migraine headache, then this point really helps you, because it cut all conditions – light, vision, and sound that trigger a migraine.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy: CBT is a type of therapy that is very commonly used in stress, and depression, it’s changed the way you think.

NOTE: If your experience a headache several times a day or a week, then it would be better to talk to the doctor.

If you see this thing during a headache, then Immediately talk to the doctor, because your 1 hour late, may also create some serious conditions:

  • If you feel Immediate and severe pain in the head, then Immediately talk to the doctor.
  • If your headache interfare in your daily activites
  • Immediately talk to the doctor if your voice, balance, and power losing.
  • If your headache keeps getting worse in 24 hours, then without any waste of time talking to the doctor.
  • Your headache is causing pain in your Neck, then it could be a risk of infection.
  • If vomitting occur during headache
  • If your have head pain in one eye or there is redness in the eye, then this is also a sign of danger.

Because it can be a sign that there is some problem in your brain. For example, infection, bleeding.

How To Prevent Headache?

Here are some tips to prevent headaches, but if you are facing it more time a day, or week, then talk to the doctor, it may be a serious matter.

  1. Take a proper quality sleep about 8 hour
  2. Don’t skip meals, eat a well-balanced diet
  3. Do Yoga
  4. Do regular exercise
  5. Minimize Caffeine, and tea consumption
  6. Avoid smoking, and drinking
  7. Do Meditation, which is mine also favourite to control (whatever bad habit)
